BIRD, WILDLIFE & RODENT EXCLUSION VANCOUVER
Pest birds such as pigeons and starlings are very common on homes and business structures. Our priority at Gilpins Pest Control is not to harm the birds but to keep them away from the structure, thus preventing them from nesting or roosting. The best time to prevent starlings is before the young have hatched. All openings created by starlings are closed off using different construction materials or netting. Starlings prefer well-protected areas in a home or structure, such as attics and soffits. Pigeons are a problem because they not only nest in homes and buildings but also roost on ledges, peaks, etc. There are various products that are used such as bird spikes, glues, construction material and netting to prevent nesting and roosting.
Rodent proofing involves blocking small openings, as small as a ½ inch diameter, from the foundation to the roof area. Rats are excellent climbers, especially roof rats. Materials used to exclude rodents are screens, metals and construction material.
Squirrel and raccoon exclusion may involve live trapping to remove the animal from the area. If trapping is not an option, then one-way doors are placed over the entry point. The animal will exit but cannot re-enter. It is at this time that all openings are closed. The technicians involved in exclusion are well-experienced in home construction and repairs. We feel that it is important that the materials we use will blend in with your house design or décor.
